Every object has an origin. Becoming more conscious of these origins is a way to honor the web of “Being”.
Start with one room in your house. Scan the walls, flooring, furniture, and all remaining items. For everything you find, consider the raw material from which it was made. Now go to the next room, and the next, and the next… allow at least 30 minutes to do this as if it were a meditation. Think about where and how the substance was extracted and refined into its current form.
Try to identify all the individuals who helped bring the object to you such as laborers, managers, salespeople, and distributors or even your delivery person. Your private abode is truly a global project. Give private thanks and feel true gratitude for all involved.
Now scan yourself – your past, your lessons, your triumphs, what you felt a “victim” in and how you “survived”. Then, without judgment, examine the people who helped you get to where you are today – those who were not good for you and those who were. Now give private thanks to them for teaching you what you needed to learn or know and feel genuine gratitude for how it shaped the wonderful person you are today.
Are you changed in any way by this discovery?
